i'm aware that the question is kinda confusing.. sorry.. I just wanted to know: do you have to use a hair product that is in the same hair product brand as a relaxer? cause i heard if u dont then when you get a perm, your hair would break off.. i just wanted to know.Do you have to use a hair relaxer that comes from a similar hair product?
Everyone seems to want to scare you with ';it will make your hair fall off'; and that has very rarely ever happened. Yes, with relaxers with afro-americans, that is more common, and that is only because of not understanding what they are doing. Many try to do it themselves, which quite generally is a sure recipe for disaster.
No, you do not have to use the same line of products for the relaxer and general hair grooming. Usually, if you find a good product line, you will like all of their other products, but not always. There may be something in another line that you like better for just that one thing, and maybe even a third for something else. That is fine. We all have preferences, and that is why the companies exist. Of course, any one manufacturer would like it if you bought only their products, but that is not reality.
Do not mix items in the relaxer itself. When you have a kit, then use what comes with it. Generally, the products are made to work together -- there is more than one step in a relaxer.
If you do your relaxer carefully, especially if it is a retouch, then you won't get breakage. But when you get overlap, or too much rough treatment and pulling when the hair is in the soft stage, THAT will cause breakage. But different products for grooming after do not cause breakage. It's a good sales gimmick, though! Wonder how many fall for it?Do you have to use a hair relaxer that comes from a similar hair product?
the simple answer is no. Sometimes the brand of relaxer that works for you may not make products that work for you where styling is concerned. Good styling products are hard to find. Go for whats going to give your hair what it needs. If it's your first time doing a relaxer yourself follow the directions to the T!!! Also its a good idea to have a fried help you with the smoothing at the root. Good luck to you
