Hair relaxer?

How does the Hair relaxer work which most salons offer at the price of $100...is it ok, if u take proper care of hair after having it done..do it straighten ur hair nicelyHair relaxer?
Hair relaxers are most typically used on ethnic hair, caucasian hair does not require this....

The relaxers are extremely harsh and damaging. Lye, which has the power to blow out your cuticle and cause breakage...Hair PH is basically scaled 1-10. 1 being acid, this level includes battery acid and the Chemical relaxers...i.e...Lye is alkaline and registers a 10 plus.....

With store products the best you can really achieve is 8-9 or more....Professional products have a lower ph.....3-7 which shuts the cuticle down to reduce damage. Pro products are concentrated so distributing through the hands with less works best......Healthy hair should range 4-7......

If its ethnic hair, its not my strong point, I only know the basics, as in Maine I didn't have the honor of learning....

Caucasian hair should not be using chemical straighteners....

Good Luck....Hair relaxer?
relaxers basically make your hair less curly so it will straighten better and so it will be smooth and straight if you want your curls get a pirm it makes your hair smooth and straight but keeps the curls!
Go to Sally's beauty supply, there they will be able to recommend you to the one that suits you the best =)
They basically put a bunch of chemicals in your hair and let it sit for a while, then wash it out. I had it done and am very happy with the results. My hair is nice and straight, and I have no problems.
